Protect Yourself this Flu Season

National Influenza Vaccination Week (NIVW) — December 5th - 11th— is a national awareness week focused on highlighting the importance of influenza vaccination.

Do what you can to protect yourself this flu season. Wear a mask, continue to practice social distancing, wash your hands, disinfect surfaces regularly, and most importantly - get your flu vaccine. This is important to not only protect yourself but also to protect others and to help alleviate the over-burdened healthcare system this season.

With any preventable disease, it’s important to protect yourself but this year it’s more important than ever with both the flu and COVID-19 ever present. Get your flu shot as soon as possible - it’s not too late!

Can You Get Both the Flu and COVID-19 Vaccines?

Yes. Make sure you are making time to get both the flu and COVID-19 vaccines. You need both as each one protects you from a specific virus. The flu vaccine won’t you protect you from COVID-19 and the COVID-19 vaccine won’t protect you from the flu. And, the flu shot will not interfere with your COVID-19 vaccinations. You can even get them at the same time!

Remember, no vaccine is 100% effective in keeping you from getting sick but vaccines can lessen the effects of a virus. They can help reduce the severity of the illness and keep you out of the hospital, which is not a place you want to be during flu season!
