Wound Care

The team at Thorek Memorial Hospital works hard to understand issues affecting a patient's ability to heal. With that knowledge our doctors and nurses evaluate and address the best way to treat the wound itself. By communicating regularly with referring physicians and facilitating other clinical and non-clinical services, we address complete patient care to work towards a fast and complete recovery.

We are able to treat wounds related to trauma, disease, diabetes, burns, impaired circulation and infections.

Our approach to patient healing involves:

  • Faster recovery, less pain and fewer long-term debilitating conditions
  • Reduced burden and cost for patients
  • State-of-the-art diagnostics and treatment

The Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine

The Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine Program is dedicated to the closure of non-healing and recurring wounds in an innovative and cost-effective manner. The center uses a multi-disciplinary approach that includes input from a number of healthcare professionals from a variety of disciplines:

  • Internal Medicine
  • Cardiovascular Medicine
  • Physical Therapy
  • Radiology
  • Respiratory Therapy
  • Dietetics

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy has been proven to be of therapeutic value in about 20% of wound care cases. Patients suffering from diabetic foot ulcers, compromised skin grafts, refractory osteomyelitis, radiation tissue injury, peripheral ischemia and a host of necrotizing skin infections can benefit from hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
