Dr. Georgoulis Medical Education Award

The Medical Staff at Thorek Memorial Hospital created the Dr. Georgoulis Award to provide educational funding for Thorek hospital employees and Medical Staff members. Named after Dr. Georgoulis, an Internal Medicine physician and past Medical Staff President, this award is given to anyone who demonstrates behavior that supports the hospital’s mission statement. The three criteria that must be met to be nominated are:

    Interaction

Showing strong commitment to the hospital mission through personal example, communication, conflict resolution and teamwork.

    Execution

Getting results through focusing on other employees and patients, problem solving, decision-making, planning and performance management.

    Demonstrated Competence

Achieving competence through technical expertise and continuous improvement.

Anyone can nominate a coworker or medical staff member. Recipients of the Dr. Georgoulis Award receive $500 and are recognized at a Medical Staff Meeting. This is a monthly award, so there is a lot of opportunity for employees that go above and beyond and support the hospital’s mission through their everyday work and activities.
